As a farewell gift from a few coworkers at my last job, I was given this disposable camera. It was a bit of a joke, but I thought, why not have some fun with it. Often photographers get into heated battles about the gear they use, and while I’m no less a snob myself, I thought it would be a great exercise to step back from the equipment, and push myself with something that doesn’t get much simpler.
As you can see from several of the shots I still managed to mess it up, getting my big sausage fingers in the way of the lens in at least 7 of the images.
I spent the better part of a year shooting exclusively in film a few years back, and it was refreshing to use it again. I love the experience of being forced to make your shots count. It’s too easy to “spray and pray” these days with large memory cards and cameras that can capture multiple shots per second, a lot of the skill has been exchanged for luck, not so with film.
There were 27 exposures on this roll. I posted 25 with the two excluded shots being underexposed and the other a misfire. I feel like this work is me having rolled out of bed in the morning. Not at my best, please don’t judge me, but I hope you enjoy.
Let me know which one is your favourite!
